Senior IT Project Manager at the Total Defence Research Institute (FOI)

The Total Defence Research Institute (FOI) is a government agency conducting world-leading research in defense and security to support Sweden's military and civil defense. The research spans several areas, such as underwater, cyber defense, space, electronic warfare, sensor systems, civil defense, CBRNe (chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear, and explosive materials), military platforms including weapons and protection, as well as security policy analyses. FOI's research plays a key role in building Sweden's defense capability.

About the Position

As a senior IT project manager, you will have the opportunity to contribute to world-leading research that strengthens Sweden's defense and security. You will operate in an environment where you can structure complex problems, prioritize, and turn plans into well-functioning solutions. The combination of large projects and smaller assignments creates a varied and developing everyday life.

In this role, you will be an important part of IT and contribute to creating both strategic and operational conditions for Sweden's defense research. Here you will work alongside positive and helpful colleagues in a pleasant atmosphere where the core activities are both exciting and meaningful.

You have an interest in both operations and technology and see how they can be used together to contribute to Sweden's defense capability. Through your ability to translate the needs of the research activities into usable IT solutions, you will become a key person in realizing the agency's mission.

About the Unit

You will be part of the IT organization belonging to the Research Support department.

Do you have the competence profile we need?

Requirements

  • Academic education in IT or equivalent experience.
  • Several years of experience leading complex projects from start to finish.
  • Interest and ability to lead specialists.
  • You have good communication skills and express yourself well in both spoken and written Swedish and English.
  • We have research at several locations, so you need a B driver's license.
  • We are looking for a person with high analytical ability, who is communicative, clear, and structured in their work approach. You have a natural ability to motivate and inspire colleagues and enjoy collaborating with people with different competencies. We will place great emphasis on your personal qualities.

Meritorious

  • Experience in requirements specification and procurement in the IT field.
  • Experience with agile working methods.
  • Personal experience in system development, system management, or IT operations.

The position is a permanent employment that may begin with a six-month probationary period.
